In addition to leading the events and staff of Music for All, this role will prepare Earnhart to take over as CEO when current CEO Eric Martin retires in the next few years, according to sources familiar with the transition plan. Martin will turn 65 next November.

Earnhart joins the staff, departing his role as director of fine arts for Arlington Independent School District in Texas, where he has been employed since 2013. Prior working in AISD, Earnhart was the director of fine arts for Irving ISD from 2009 to 2013 and the band director of former national champion LD Bell High School from 1998 to 2009.

“Dr. Earnhart is a respected music professional and experienced educator, whose belief in and support of Music for All has been invaluable,” MFA board chairman Gayl Doster said in a press release. “His successes as an administrator during his tenure with Arlington ISD bring his expertise in advocating for music and arts education to Music for All’s operations.”

The new COO is no stranger to MFA, where he currently sits on the Board of Directors, having been elected in early 2016. Earnhart has also been a clinician at the Summer Symposium and an active adjudicator at Bands of America events since 2005. Most recently, Earnhart served on the music panels of the Toledo Regional and Indianapolis Super Regional.

Earnhart has held many music consulting roles with marching arts groups across the nation, including drum corps Phantom Regiment, The Cadets, and The Cavaliers, as well as three-time national high school marching band champion Broken Arrow, where he currently serves as a consultant.

It is expected that Earnhart will not continue to consult with Broken Arrow once he assumes the position of COO. However, Debbie Laferty, vice president of marketing and communications for MFA, declined to directly address Earnhart’s current or future role with the three-time national champion.

“Music for All and its employees avoid conflicts of interest and will continue to do so,” Laferty said in an email.

Earnhart also has extensive experience as a clinician at the Midwest Clinic, National Association of Music Merchants, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Administrators Conference, and Conn-Selmer Institute.
