The 2014 Winston-Salem, North Carolina Regional was held Oct. 11 at Wake Forest University. Thirty-two bands from across the East Coast competed, and Dobyns-Bennett was named regional champion.
Analysis
This regional is relatively new and has been continually greeted with huge enrollment numbers. In fact, in 2013 it was named as a super Regional, but in 2014 it was adjusted back down to a regular regional. However, Music For All decided to select 12 finalists instead of the usual 10 at every other regional. This year, the two biggest contenders were Dobyns-Bennett and Panther Creek. Based off scores, this was one of the most evenly matched competitions this season, with DB and PC tying in both the music and general effect captions, Dobyns-Bennett only barely winning based on their visual score.
