Bands of America will return to Arizona for the first time in over a decade with the addition of the Flagstaff Regional to be held Sept. 28, 2019, at Walkup Skydome on the campus of Northern Arizona University.
Because of the event's late addition to the schedule, participating bands have until Feb. 28 to register and be able to participate in the random draw for performance times. Bands registering after Feb. 28 will be assigned the earliest performance times based on registration form submission or postmark date, in accordance with BOA's registration policies.
The Flagstaff Regional will be one of seven events held this year in indoor venues. That's the most indoor events since the last time a regional was held in the Skydome in 2007.
No groups have been confirmed as attending the event yet, but previous Flagstaff regionals, held each year from 2005–2007, drew a wide range of groups geographically. Those events featured bands from as far west as California and as far east as Oklahoma and Texas, as well as many local Arizona bands.
Previous Flagstaff Regional champions include Ayala, Etiwanda, and Sierra Vista. Past national finalists Ayala, Vista Murrieta, Jenks, and Union have all competed in previous Flagstaff regionals.
