Bands of America will return to Johnson City for the first time in twenty years and hold regionals in Iowa and Virginia for the first time ever, the organization uncovered when announcing their 2019 fall competition schedule. Other regional-caliber events in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas are expected to return to their usual dates and venues.
Missing from the schedule is the Jacksonville Regional and the popular North or South Carolina, which appears to have been replaced by the Johnson City Regional.
After several seasons of declining enrollment at the regional in Northern California, BOA has shifted the regional a couple hours southeast to Buchanan High School in Fresno, California. It will be held Oct. 19, earlier than California regionals are typically held. The regional in Southern California will be held two weeks later on Nov. 2, followed by the St. George Regional, which returns to Dixie State University on Nov. 9. This scheduling will allow groups to easily attend two or even all three western regionals if desired.
BOA also confirmed the previously released dates for the St. Louis (Oct. 18–19), Indianapolis (Oct. 25–26), and San Antonio (Nov. 1–2) super regionals and the Grand National Championships (Nov. 14–16). These premiere events take place in professional domed venues and provide a superior performer and fan experience.
The following schedule contains dates for many fall events, including those operated by BOA and independently-organized regional-quality events. As other events and dates are announced and confirmed, they will be added to the schedule below.
