Editors note: Music For All later announced cancelation of the entire 2020 championship season because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Music For All today released dates and locations for its 2020 Bands of America regional and super regional championships. The fall season will contain a record-high 24 championship events, but includes no new venues.
Super Regionals will again be held in domed stadiums in back-to-back weekends in late October. The Dome at America’s Center will host the first super regional on Oct. 16–17 in St. Louis, followed by the Indianapolis Super Regional in Lucas Oil Stadium on Oct. 23–24. The Alamodome will host the San Antonio Super Regional on Oct. 30–31, leaving a free weekend between San Antonio and Grand Nationals just like last season. As previously announced, Grand Nationals will be held in Lucas Oil on Nov. 12–14.
While no new events or venues have been added in Texas, several competitions have switched weekends. The McAllen Regional will again be held opening weekend, Sept. 19, at McAllen ISD’s Veterans Memorial Stadium, followed by the always intense Austin Regional on Sept. 26 at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex. Midland’s Grande Communications Stadium and Katy’s Legacy Stadium will host regionals on Oct. 3, while the Dallas Regional at Pennington Field slides back one weekend to Oct. 10. Waco will again conclude the Texas tour of regionals on Oct. 17 at Baylor University.
The Midwest will continue to host a strong lineup of events beginning on Sept. 19 at Bowling Green State University, a frequent alternative for the University of Toledo. The Muncie Regional will move back to Dayton’s Welcome Stadium on Sept. 26, followed by the Columbus Regional at Fortress Obetz on Oct. 3. The popular regional in Cedar Falls, Iowa, will also return on Oct. 3.
In the Southeast, the opening weekend regional returns to Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, on Sept. 19 after a single year in Louisville. Also returning to the schedule after a year hiatus is the regional at Jacksonville State University in Alabama on Oct. 24. There will also be competitions held at returning venues in Powder Springs, Georgia, on Sept. 26; Washington, D.C., on Oct. 10; Johnson City, Tennessee, on Oct. 10; and Orlando on Oct. 24. A venue has not yet been confirmed for the Virginia Regional on Oct. 17.
All three Western regionals return to the schedule, but only the St. George, Utah, Regional on Oct. 31 has a confirmed venue. Additional regionals are tentatively scheduled for Oct. 10 in Arizona and Nov. 7 in California.
The following schedule contains dates for many fall events, including those operated by BOA and independently-organized regional-quality events. As other events and dates are announced and confirmed, they will be added to the schedule below. If you have any contest information you think we should add, shoot us an email at tips@hornrank.com or fill out this brief form.
