States Represented (5)
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

The 2018 Orlando, Florida, Regional will be held Oct. 13 at Camping World Stadium. This will be the first BOA regional held in Florida since 2008.

Our Thoughts
After a 10-year hiatus, Bands of America returns to the state of Florida. A gap like that brings quite a bit of unpredictability, considering over 20 of the bands haven't performed at a BOA event in recent history, several of those having never performed at a BOA event ever. We definitely expect some surprises, but we have a couple ideas of how things might shake out.

Former national champion and consistent national finalist Tarpon Springs leads the pack of bands here in Florida. Normally we wouldn't see Tarpon until the end of October, when the Atlanta Super Regional has historically taken place. But with no Atlanta this year, we get to see Tarpon a bit earlier in the season. It's a Grand Nats year for Tarpon, which means we expect them to be going all out as they prepare for a trip to Indy.

Harrison and Park Vista will be facing off for second place. The last time these two bands went head-to-head was at the Atlanta Super Regional in 2016. Park Vista won by just a 0.60 point margin. The two tied in GE, with Park Vista's lead in visual overpowering Harrison's slight victory in music. But a lot can change in a season, and even more can change in two years, so it's either school's chance to win.

Stoneman Douglas and Summerville are expected to round out the top half of finals in Orlando. Stoneman Douglas was named a finalist at the Atlanta Super Regional in 2016. Summerville is a consistent medalist in South Carolina State Championship competition winning the state championship as recently as 2014.

In the bottom half of finals, we expect to see Cape Fear, among a strong pool of Florida bands. Cape Fear and Flanagan have both made finals at several regionals throughout the years, and both have even made super regional finals in Atlanta at least once. We got to see a glimpse of Jupiter at the Jacksonville Regional last year. Finals was cancelled because of weather, but the band's prelim score pegged them about four points behind Harrison.

Timber Creek (the Florida one, not the Texas one) and Cypress Creek round out our finalist predictions. These two bands have had much success in Florida's marching band circuit FMBC, and seem most likely to translate that into finalist spots here in Orlando.
