In 2016, Tarpon Springs will be competing at the Atlanta Super Regional and the Grand National Championships.

After winning the national championship in 2014, it's not a surprise that no one in the lineup for Atlanta was even able to get close to Tarpon. LD Bell was almost four full points behind.

As we look to 2016, expect to see Tarpon return to Atlanta and Grand Nats, hoping to bring the eagle back to Florida.

2014
Tarpon Springs competed at the Atlanta Super Regional and the Grand National Championships. Tarpon won the Atlanta regional yet again, which wasn't really a surprise. What was surprising was the huge (almost 5 point) gap between 1st place Tarpon and 2nd place Mason. Their dramatic success at Atlanta forced their name into the conversation for the eagle. Three weeks later at Grand Nats, they proved that a 100-member hornline can compete against and beat groups almost twice that size.

Tarpon Springs beat Broken Arrow in Prelims at BOA Atlanta. The list of bands that have beaten BA in any round of BOA competition since 2011 is not very long: Avon (GN 2011 Prelims) and Carmel (GN 2012 Semis/Finals). Obviously this doesn't mean they are a better band than Broken Arrow — BA still won in finals — but it does mean they have a level of excellence that could push them close to the top of the pack when they attend Grand Nats in 2014. Maybe they'll even be able to beat Broken Arrow where it really matters and take home the national championship trophy.
