The 2015 Arlington Regional was held Oct. 10 at Maverick Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington. After an extremely close prelims and finals competition, Flower Mound was named Regional Champion.

This Arlington Texas regional was stacked. Top to bottom, this regional had some of the most talented groups not only in the state of Texas, but across the entire country. The best part about this regional, however, was how competitive the top three were. In both prelims and finals, each of the top three bands received at least one caption award.

The biggest surprise at this regional was Wakeland. We should have expected a great performance from this group as they won second place in class AAA at Grand Nats this past year, but we thought that was an exceptional season because they knew they would be competing at Grand Nats. We were wrong. They brought it at this regional and pulled within two points of LD Bell in finals after tying with Round Rock in prelims.

This regional shows how superior the big three Lewisville ISD bands are. Flower Mound, Hebron, and Marcus are incredible programs all concentrated in one school district. The only other place in America where there are so many high-level bands in one district is Cobb County in Georgia.

1. Hebron H.S., TX
2. Round Rock H.S., TX
3. Marcus H.S., TX
4. Flower Mound H.S., TX
5. LD Bell H.S., TX
6. Richland H.S., TX
7. Coppell H.S., TX
8. Keller Central H.S., TX
9. Jenks H.S., OK
10. Keller H.S., TX

  1. I agree with you 90%. Considering Richland was 16th at San Antonio 2014, I would have them in over Jenks, but hey, that's me.

  2. I wouldn't underestimate Wakeland. There was massive improvement last year considering their appearance at Grand Nationals and I watched one of their videos from this year and can easily say they have done it again.

  3. Wakeland will easily be in finals. Go take a look at their most recent performance on youtube, it's very impressive (and I think even a step up from last year's). Definitely 5-8 material at this regional.

  4. Attended UTA regionals last night. Battle of heavyweights. Great shows by all.

    1. Flo Mo HS 85.60
    2. Hebron HS. 85.50
    3. Marcus HS 84.35

  5. Cobb county Georgia and Leander isd Texas

    1. You're right, Leander ISD also has a group of high-level bands all in one county
