The Franklin Band is a consistent regional and super regional finalist and a recipient of the Sudler Shield.
In 2017, Franklin is expected to compete at the Clarksville Regional and Grand National Championships.
2017
Franklin kicked off its season at the Clarksville Regional. In prelims, Franklin placed third behind North Hardin, but came back in finals to earn second place right between Castle and North Hardin.Franklin will end its season in Indianapolis at Grand Nationals.

At Clarksville, Franklin earned a close second place behind Castle. Subtract the penalty, and you'll find a tenth of a point gap between the two.
In Atlanta, Franklin found themselves trapped at the top of the bottom half. They finished in seventh place both rounds, but much closer to the sixth-place group than the eighth-place group.
With two weeks remaining until Grand Nats, Franklin got back to work hoping to make their first appearance in national finals. But there were just too many good groups competing this year, and Franklin received 17th place. However, that 17th-place finish was only 1.05 points away from a finalist position.

At the Clarksville Regional, Franklin fell behind both Castle and O'Fallon Township in finals after winning the prelims competition. Even with third in finals, they still managed to claim the music caption, receiving first place from each music performance judge.
At the Indianapolis Super Regional, the group continued to fall behind Castle, placing 11th overall. After that placement, it seemed like this season was going to be a disappointing one for Franklin.
But at Grand Nats, Franklin made an impressive leap by placing 13th in both prelims and semifinals. Less than a point away from finals, they were by far the happiest 13th place group we have ever witnessed.

The band had an excellent showing at the Louisville Regional, placing only a twentieth of a point behind first place Castle. That success carried onto Indianapolis, where they placed fifth beating Lawrence Township, among many other national caliber groups. Three weeks later at Grand Nats, Franklin ended up way out of finals behind many group they beat multiple times throughout the season. It was a surprise to see them so low and maybe 2015 will be the year they break into finals.
2013
Franklin's meteoric rise to national prominence continued in 2013, winning its second southeast regional championship (Jacksonville '12 and Powder Springs '13), its fourth state championship, and its Grand Nationals 2nd place finish in Class AAA. In 2012, the Franklin Band was 24th in Grand Nats semifinals, but, in 2013, the Franklin Band was 15th. That's some crazy improvement from their 44th place finish at Grand Nats 2011. It is likely that Franklin will return to Indy in 2014, and, if they do, is it safe to say they could break into finals. Depending on the opposition, they might even be able to steal the Class AAA championship title from Cobb county.
