  1. Just a tad confused on what happened from prelims to finals.

    1. I share that confusion, Dean. The final top 5 rankings did not seem nearly as accurate as the Prelims.

  2. There is something wrong with this. There is no way the finals were judged in a fair and impartial manner. Different judges for the finals, right? It sounds personal. Blue Springs finished WAY WAY WAY too far down the list! 5TH?? Not a chance! Their Finals run was even cleaner and more stunning than the Prelim run and LOST points? Absurd. The (9) for music is ABSURD. Please rethink the ability of ONE JUDGE to skew results so significantly. Whatever your issues, keep the kids out of it.

    1. Music General Effect is taken from the opinions of two judges, hence there being two music GE scores. General effect is about 60% of a band's final score in BOA, that': just how judging is set up in the format like UIL is more music based. As a Blue Springs alumni myself I'll admit I was a little upset at the final placement, but I'll tell you what I was told by my band director after we didn't make Grand National finals in 2013. Just because you don't like the results doesn't mean everyone's out to get you or they're inaccurate. The fact people are this torn up about Blue Springs going down one rank from one year to another instead of being so proud of Homestead jumping two places kinda makes me sad. Congradulations to my Golden Regiment! This is still an amazing feat.

Overall, don't say the judging is rigged or it's wrong. Different judges see things differently and thats fine. What matters is we dont dwell on one "bad" score by two judges and just take it with a pinch of salt and plan what to do next. That's the beauty of BOA: everyone just keeps getting better
