The Ronald Reagan Band is a former Grand National finalist, a consistent regional and super regional finalist, and a recipient of the Sudler Shield.
In 2017, Ronald Reagan is expected to compete at the Conroe Regional, Texas Marching Classic, and San Antonio Super Regional.

At Conroe, Reagan led the pack, beating Johnson and The Woodlands. It was their second consecutive Conroe Regional win, and started some buzz about a possible run for the eagle at Grand Nats.
At San Antonio, that buzz mostly died down after Reagan placed eighth in both prelims and finals. While a national champion title seemed unlikely, it's not uncommon for Texas bands to place higher at Grand Nats than they did at San Antonio.
Reagan did just that, improving on their San Antonio placement to earn seventh place in both semifinals and finals. Their message of peace and acceptance was warmly accepted in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Reagan started off the season with a close victory over district-mate Claudia Taylor Johnson. Reagan placed a half point ahead, winning the GE caption out-right and tying with Johnson for the visual caption.
At San Antonio, Reagan managed to edge out Johnson yet again by about a half a point. The two groups placed second and third, respectively. Reagan grabbed the visual caption in both prelims and finals.
The craziest part about these district competitors is that at both events, Johnson won the prelims competition, but Reagan won the finals competition. Is that because of the expected variance in judging subjective art, or does Reagan just really know how to turn it on for finals?

Reagan started off the season in a strong position, finishing fourth place at Austin and sixth place at Conroe. At San Antonio, they finished ninth just ahead of Vandegrift. As Ronald Reagan returns to the school they were before the program was split to launch Claudia Taylor Johnson High School, we can expect Reagan to continue placing in the top half of regionals and super regionals.
2013
Ronald Reagan's 2013 program had a tough act to follow after 2012's Grand Nats 10th place finish for the band, but they didn't disappoint. Here's another tale of a band expected to be on the bubble at a competition (Reagan was predicted to not make the San Antonio Finalist cut of 14 more than once on the BOA boards), yet pulling through with ease (Reagan was 5th at an absolutely stacked SA). It's a lot to ask that this band return to the golden era of the early 2000s, but it is clear that this band is improving and has no plans to decline into oblivion.
