  1. Blue Springs still on top of Union? Is this because of Union being at their peak and Blue Springs getting up to them with half their show?

  2. Why is O'Fallon still in the next 10? They only beat Eden Prairie in 3 captions out of 14 last weekend.

  3. I reviewed the ranking system. This makes no sense. Why is Rosemount on there, but not Eden Prairie. EP beat Rosemount in finals, remember?

    1. And 2/2 this year at state competitions.

    2. Exactly. I strongly disagree with this top 30 list... The fifth place finalist got beaten out on the top 30 for somebody who placed two places BELOW them in finals... I smell a flaw in this ranking system. Even if Rosemount beat EP in prelims, there should have been more weight on the finals score!

    3. How about just being happy that a MN was even mentioned on this top 40 list? Happy to see Rosemount on the list. Thanks for presenting another clever, boundary-pushing show. Oh, and this is from an EP fan.

    4. I feel the same way. All the Mnnesota bands represented the state well. Applaud all of them.

    5. The ranking system does clearly state that finals rounds would be weighted more heavily than prelims. So happy that Minnesota bands are being recognized just wish that all bands that deserve recognition would receive it.

    6. This ranking system is so messed up I'm not even gonna begin to explain what needs to be fixed cause the list would be too long

  4. Rosemount had a much harder show with more challenging music than EP did. Not to take anything away from EP, but Rosemount tends to be know for more technically difficult shows. In addition, they were second only to Broken Arrow individual music at BOA. All those factors go into consideration when ranking. Some of the nicest and most gracious fans I've ever met. Other bands could take a lesson from that. Overall, exciting things are happening in Minnesota. Proud of all the bands that represented us.

    1. ..and do not overlook that RHS was 5th overall in STL prelims -- EPHS at 7th. Those positions were flipped in finals (with different judges).

    2. Exactly...they are one of the classiest band and their fans are gracious. Something many schools could learn from. RHS shows that theu recognize all bands work hard. I was inoressed watching them cheer on ALL the MN schools as well as many other schools at BOA. I am a Broken Arrow parent who is inpressed by their class. Even on their facebook page they acknowledge other bands. Stay classy RHS...we always love watching your shows!

  5. So excited that minnesota bands are making their way up to earning some recognition, this would have been a mere dream 10 years ago. Even though Eden Prairie undeniably deserves a spot on the list because of their performance in finals, it is great the Rosemount band was placed and recognized for all their hard work and dedication.

  6. It is sad to see any negative comments about any bands making it and why they shouldn't. You sadly are making a bad name for the band you support. These are hard working kids and we shouldn't take their moment away by being negative. Read how they determine rankings and see that finals at BOA are just a part of it. Congrats to all the bands.

    1. It's the sad truth that if it were a true ranking some bands in the list should not be there.

  7. Eden Prairie High School has beaten Rosemount 3 times this season, including at the Minnesota Youth in Music State Championship. They placed 5th at the St. Louis Super Regional, 2 spots ahead of Rosemount and 7 spots ahead of O'Fallon Township, and they are attending Grand Nationals in November. Eden Prairie High School is a band to watch out for in the coming weeks and are definitely a candidate for the next 10 list.

  8. Hello All, I'm not sure who is posting the negative comments on here, but I would just like to say that Eden Prairie Bands are simply excited to be able to participate in BOA events, ans these posts do not represent our mission and vision as an organization. We are constantly shaping our legacy through striving for Unity, Artistry, and Excellence. We are never trying to beat any band, nor working for a number on a ranking website. We have nothing but love for Rosemount High Schools parents, staff, and students. Whoever is posting about Eden Prairie "beating" any bands is simply not aligned with our mission and vision as a band program. Please Stop.

    1. Well said, Mr. Palmer! As a Rosemount Band parent, I can tell you we have nothing but the utmost respect for Eden Prairie's program (not to mention Eastview, Marshall, Irondale, Minnetonka, Waseca, Rocori and every single program out there) for the countless hours of rehearsals by all sections to get a show on the field, absolute dedication to excellence in both music and drill, and striving to push the envelope year after year as to what a show can be.

We are beyond excited that the incredibly talented group from EP will be representing the ENTIRE state of Minnesota at Grand Nationals next month with such an awesome show - we just hope you will be able to hear us cheering you on all the way from Minnesota!

  9. Eden Prairie's band is simply obnoxious and rude. They win a few competitions and they think they deserve to be one of the best bands in the country. Being from RHS, we're used to their complaints. RHS is on the list because we work harder and put tons of hours in. We're just better than them and they just can't handle that maturely.

    1. Hello, I am also a student at rhs and I definitely do not agree with this statement. EP has been working so hard this year and deserves recognition for it. There is no need to tear down another band, especially not another Minnesota one. Best wishes to you at Grand Nationals EP!

    2. I am an RHS band parent and I agree with you, Alysse. I have never heard my son or anyone else involved with RHS band say anything negative about EP. Both band programs have awesome shows year after year and all the kids (and teachers) work hard. Congratulations to all of you for a successful season. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us next season.

    3. As a RHS band parent for the last five years, I respect all the bands that compete on a weekly basis. Every year we see our MN bands get better with the increased competition in all classes! BOA is always a great time to see how our programs have evolved throughout the season. Have a great time in Indy EP and REPRESENT!

    5. I also believe this post is a fake RHS student......

  10. Not helpful ar all. Mr. Palmer has spoken on this and I'm sure he'll handle this matter with his parents/fans

  11. Hi I am a student from RHS and I do not agree with these negative comments about RHS or EP, I know we all put in a lot of efforts into attending practice and practicing on our own, congrats to EP for winning YIM you guys were great. When I saw your show I was mind blown it was so good and I'm happy that you guys beat us! Anyways EP and RHS has put in a lot of efforts and has practiced the same amount of times with the same amount of help. EP is not rude they have cheered on RHS and we have cheered them on too, it was great meeting them. I was honestly jealous that EP beaten us at YIM but after seeing their show me and meeting them I'm happy they beated us. EP even high fived us before and after our show and we love them for that, they gave us team spirt when we felt down but anyways congrats to EP for placing 5th in finals and good luck in Grand nationals! Also congrats to everyone for working their hardest at BOA everyone did fantastic!

  12. As an Irondale High School band parent, I am constantly impressed by the level of class shown by all members of both the Eden Prairie High School Marching Band and the Rosemount High School Marching Band. Both groups of people respect each other so much and cheer for the other through both success and disappointment. Many other bands could learn from the relationship between these two bands and I am lucky to witness marching band in Minnesota get better because of them and all the other bands

  13. Who cares what school I'm from? EP or RHS? It doesn't matter. Either way, I just want to say the both of our bands work hard as a whole and represent Minnesota with a lot of pride. But, when we clash like this, does it do anyone any good? Putting down other bands to make you and your band no matter what school your from feel better? No. Does it represent Minnesota good? No. Will it always be flowers and sunshine? No. But that's how life is. Win or lose we ALL put are best foot forward and improve. What happend to the bands at YIM? What happened to the bands who highfived each other before and after their performances? Is it all gone because one tiny thing might not have gone your way? It's not only disrespecting your school, and state, but it's disrespecting YOU. Where's your EP/RHS pride? Show some respect to each other. And EP, I hope you do amazing at Nationals and represent Minnesota with some class.
