2021 Atlanta Regional

The 2021 Atlanta Regional was held Sept. 18 at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia. This year's contest featured just 10 bands, which meant every group had an opportunity to perform in finals. Walton won their first-ever regional champion title, beating Mill Creek by exactly half a point. You can read our in-depth analysis of the results here.

Event Preview
It's not uncommon for September regionals to have lower enrollment, but it appears even more bands than usual are choosing to wait until mid-October to make their competitve debut. Of the 10 competing bands, only Mill Creek and Walton will have members who have previously performed in finals at McEachern. Both groups were named finalists in 2019, and Mill Creek was also a finalist in 2018.

Despite the lower enrollment, this could be one of the most evenly competitive contests of the season. No matter what happens, we will be making history with a new regional champion. That's not just because none of the past champions are returning, but there are actually no groups in attendance who have won any BOA regional before. Some of the top groups we will be keeping an eye on include past regional finalists Pope, Mill Creek, Boiling Springs, Walton, Easst Coweta, Russell County, and Jackson County.
