The Dobyns-Bennett Band is a former Grand National finalist, a consistent regional champion and super regional finalist, and a recipient of both the Sudler Flag and the Sudler Shield.
In 2017, Dobyns-Bennett is expected to compete at the Winston-Salem Regional and Grand National Championships.

At Winston-Salem, DB received their fourth consecutive regional champion title with ease. The group earned a first place ranking from every single judge in both prelims and finals.
A few weeks later, DB continued to show off their musical prowess, this time in Atlanta. The band won the music caption over Tarpon Springs and Wando and finished third overall.
At Grand Nats, DB made history, becoming the second Tennessee band to ever make national finals. They earned 13th place. Normally there are only 12 finalists, but a tie for 12th place resulted in 13 finalists this year.

Although they secured their third consecutive win at Winston-Salem, it was another close margin of victory. DB beat second place Nation Ford by a quarter of a point.
At Atlanta, they continued to excel by placing fourth, just behind consistent national finalist Harrison.
DB was less than two points out of making finals at Grand Nats and scored 13th in GE. If they continue to improve year after year as they have been doing, they will definitely be making finals in the next few years.
