LD Bell edged out Blue Springs at the Renegade Review, in Tulsa, proving that they really are back this season and will certainly be back in finals at the San Antonio Super Regional. But it was very close, with the two groups switching captions and even tying for the music and effect captions in finals.
Back in Texas, Johnson won a decisive victory at the new Midland Regional, beating Bellevue West and Timber Creek. Plus, two earlier BOA regionals practically had rematches this weekend. At the Texas Marching Classic, Ronald Reagan barely edged out Vandegrift after losing to Vandy at the Conroe Regional a week earlier. And at the Plano East competition, Flower Mound edged out Hebron, just a few weeks after losing to them at the Southlake Regional.
The Southeast also participated with its own narrow, unexpected victory. At Winston-Salem, Dobyns-Bennett fell to Fort Mill by only a tenth of a point in finals.
