Avon’s first place finish and sweep of caption awards at the Indianapolis Super Regional has earned them the top spot in this week’s rankings. Carmel and Blue Springs remained fairly steady finishing in second and third, but fourth-place Lincoln-Way made a huge jump into the rankings after being unranked all season. It’s clear this still relatively new band made up of multiple high schools in the Lincoln-Way district is going to be quite a contender for years to come. Homestead and O’Fallon held on to ranked positions, while Fishers and Lawrence Township, and Lockport Township earned spots in the Next 10.

Harrison’s victory at the prelims-only Powder Springs Regional and Dobyns-Bennett’s victory in Lynchburg were enough to keep those two bands on our radar. Harrison will he competing at Grand Nats in a few weeks which could cause them to make a huge jump in the rankings at the end of the season.

As we approach San Antonio this weekend, expect the unexpected. It sounds cliche but really anything can happen at San Antonio. There are always some crazy results and with 21 bands in the rankings in attendance, those rankings are going to be quite shaken up.
