Summary

The Homestead Band is a six-time Grand National finalist, a frequent regional and super regional finalist, and a recipient of the Sudler Shield.

2023

Homestead only attended one Bands of America event in 2023 — the Grand National Championships. The band placed 2nd in Class AAA and 19th overall in semifinals.

The band also competed in ISSMA competition, advancing to the state finals competition, where they placed 5th overall in class A.

2022

Homestead competed at the Toledo Regional, Indianapolis Super Regional, and Grand National Championships.

The band finished 3rd overall at the Toledo Regional after winnning the class champion title for Class AAAA in prelims.

At the Indy Super Regional, the group finished in 15th place, just 0.10 points away from finals. At Grand Nationals, the band earned 16th place in semifinals after an impressive 10th place in prelims.

In ISSMA competition, the group advanced to state finals, earning 6th place in Class A.

2021

Homestead finished 7th at the Indianapolis Super Regional and earned a semifinals spot at Grand Nationals, where they finished 21st overall.

In local ISSMA competition, the band earned 6th place in Class A state finals, less than a point behind Brownsburg.

2019

Homestead stacked up trophies from the very beginning of the season, winning the regional champion title in Toledo and earning the caption awards for best music, best visual, and best general effect.

The band also earned another national finals appearance, finishing 10th overall. This followed another Indianapolis Super Regional finals appearance where the band earned 5th place.

In local ISSMA competition, the group finished 3rd place at the Class A state finals competition behind only Indiana powerhouses Avon and Carmel.

2018

Homestead won the Class AAA super regional champion title in Indianapolis, placing 4th overall in finals.

At Grand Nationals, the band finished second in Class AAA, and 8th overall in finals.

In local ISSMA competition, the band received 3rd place in the Class A state finals contest.

2017

The Homestead Band won their first regional champion title in Toledo, narrowly beating William Mason.

The band finished 5th at the Indy Super Regional and 13th in semifinals at Grand Nationals, just 0.3 points away from finals.

2016

Homestead competed at the Indianapolis Super Regional and Grand National Championships.

At Indy Super, Homestead placed fifth in prelims before jumping to third in finals, right behind Avon and Carmel. Third place a week before Grand Nats would seem to guarantee a finals spot the next weekend, but that's not the case.

At Grand Nats, Homestead did earn a finals spot, but instead of a regular top 12 finals spot, they were the first ever 13th place semifinalist to advance to finals. They jumped two places in finals, to finish 11th overall, just one spot behind first-time Indiana finalist Castle.

2015

Homestead competed at the Indianapolis Super Regional and Grand National Championships.

It was another successful year for Homestead, making finals at both BOA events: top half at Indy Super and bottom half at Grand Nats. As a group that competes every weekend in one of the hardest states in America, this year's results are quite an accomplishment.

2014

When we first heard that Homestead would be returning to the BOA world, we were really excited. It's been 20 years since they last attended a BOA competition, but in those 20 years they have been consistently hanging with and even defeating top Indiana groups like Avon, Carmel, Lawrence Central, and Center Grove. In fact, since they left BOA, they've never been lower than fourth at the ISSMA state championships. While there is lots of murmuring about the difference between ISSMA judges sheets and BOA judges sheets, you have to be good to be able to beat Avon and Carmel at any competition.

Their first year back, Homestead competed at the Indianapolis Super Regional and Grand National Championships. This was their first time attending either of these competitions in over 20 years, so predicting how they will perform was very difficult. Not surprisingly, they were able to make finals at both events, but didn't defeat any group they weren't expected to defeat.
