Top 30 Rankings — Nov. 8, 2016 (Week 9)

It was an exciting weekend of competition in the Alamodome and Lucas Oil Stadium.

Flower Mound retains the top spot in this week's rankings following a decisive victory at San Antonio. It was the first time a group swept captions at the Texas super regional since 2007, when Marcus won over eventual Grand National Champion LD Bell.

After a disappointing placement at their UIL area marching contest, The Woodlands came back to place second in class and second overall at San Antonio. That performance pushes them all the way up to fifth place nationally.

A few other notable adjustments from San Antonio include Ronald Reagan dropping to 13th and LD Bell dropping out of the Top 30 to rest in the Next 10. LD Bell has an incredible show this year, and they've been performing it really well. There were just too many amazing groups at San Antonio this year.

In Indianapolis, there were some crazy differences between prelims and finals results. While we could debate for days about whether the prelims panel or finals panel got it right, we can say for a fact it cemented Avon's position in the top five. They are certainly in contention for the national title next weekend. Homestead and Marian Catholic both received a little boost in the rankings after their Indianapolis performances, and there's a new band in the Top 30: the Centerville Jazz Band.

  1. I noticed that Center Grove is in the next ten and Castle is ranked 21st overall. North Hardin was only a few tenths behind Castle and actually beat them in several captions, and they also beat Center Grove. I was just curious as to why you didn't include North Hardin in the top 30 or next ten?

  2. Thank you for giving Centerville the well deserved recognition it earned.

  3. How did LD Bell go from 14th to next ten in less than a week? I'm so confused

  4. I'm very excited The Centerville Jazz Band is getting this recogition. They are an awesome band.

  5. How is Miamisburg not in the top 30 when they just scored 4 points under Mason at the MSBA Championship?

    1. This week's rankings will not be out until Tuesday. Check back then.

  6. MCHS always seems to have that lemon with a bit more squeeze in it for the big weekend run. We shall see.

  7. Are you going to update the top 30 after grand nats this past weekend?

  8. Arent they supposed to be out yesterday
