Broken Arrow's competitive premiere in Orlando this weekend was quite a success, outscoring Tarpon Springs and Wando. With the St. Louis Super Regional happening this weekend, we'll see BA compete against a huge line up of bands from all over the Central U.S. — as far south as Texas and as far north as Minnesota.

While not a BOA event, the Texas Marching Classic gave us some of the most exciting results this week. Ronald Reagan's win over Vandegrift and Leander, pushed them to the top spot of the rankings. Rouse's impressive jump over Cedar Park earned the Rouse Band a spot on the rankings, their first time ever. Rouse was previously included in the Next 10.

Johnson City gave us an interesting result. While Dobyns-Bennett won prelims, Lafayette managed to snag the win in finals, their first regional victory in decades. That was enough to earn them a spot on the rankings and shifted DB back a couple of spots.

At the Midland Regional, Vista Ridge earned an expected decisive victory, keeping them toward the top of the rankings. Their next opportunity to impress is the San Antonio Super Regional, where they'll face the toughest line up of any regional all season.

  1. Leander ISD Texas now has 5 bands in the top 30 (Rouse, Cedar Park, Leander, Vista Ridge and Vandergrift). Has one school district ever had so many bands in the top 30 or is this a first?

    1. We've got some good water in this area that's for sure! Congrats to all the bands!

  2. Rouse over Cedar Park may be a bit premature. Cedar Park jthumped Rouse in prelims and had a less than stellar run in finals on a new drill. Should be a fun rest of the season especially now that state competition begins.

    1. Yes, they did beat us in prelims, but technically, if Cedar Park just has a "less than stellar run" in state finals, and we have a better performance, then we could win and Cedar Park could get lower than us. Having a good day or a bad day definitely counts.

    2. I understand what you are alluding to. But CP had a better morning run. Rouse is having a great season and I love to see LISD (South) succeed. I just have a tough time with seeing huge swings when it's a non-BOA competition and it being the first time Rouse has beaten CP. BOA San Antonion and UIL will be fun to watch.

  3. Congrats to Lafayette Pride of the Bluegrass!

  4. That moment when churchill beat bowie and still isn’t even on the next 10 while bowie is

    1. But now look at Bowie beating Keller in prelims at Waco…
