What a crazy weekend of band! We witnessed some incredible BOA contests in Austin, Clarksville, Columbus, and Conroe, and an indepdendent event in Owasso. You can read our detailed analysis of Castle's impressive performance and The Woodlands win at the first of two Houston regionals. Last week, we didn't see many changes in the rankings because nothing too surprising happened. That did not hold true this week. The Woodlands slid all the way up to fourth place after their strong victory in Houston. This was the band's first regional championship since their 2013 national championship season. And if you're an active participant on our forums, you're probably aware the hype train is already gaining speed, even though it's not about trains.

In Austin, Vandegrift took the top spot, followed by Claudia Taylor Johnson, but it was Leander ISD band Rouse who really stood out. After making finals at a BOA event for the first time in 2019, the band finished third in finals. Rouse is also going to the Texas Marching Classic and Waco Regional, so they'll have plenty of opportunities to show that this placement wasn't a fluke and they deserve to be potentially even higher in the rankings.
